VB Social Media Banking News via Twitter #13 – 01-June-09

Please find below my daily top tweets on social media in banking and financial services from the people I am following on Twitter.

I invite you to check the other tweets which didn’t make my post today. I flagged them as favorites on @Visible_Banking.

jowyang Blog Post: What Brands Want From A Twitter Client (I also tweeted this yesterday)

Listening – Management – Workflow – Integration – Conversing – Reporting
Good summary, but I doubt banks are seeking to manage several twitter accounts yet when they are struggling to reach a critical mass of followers with one main twitter account.
1st Mariner Bank is the only financial institution I know which has three official accounts. I invite you to check my Visible Banking Twitter Watch.
FinancialBrand At least TD Canada’s Facebook promo is more considerate of friends than Burger King’s Interesting savings product too.

Can banks and financial institutions still innovate and be successful on facebook? YES, please check from TD Canada and Chase +1 from Chase.

To qualify and participate to those two REWARDING initiatives, you have to be a registered user of facebook. The target is right, the critical mass of users is there. Don’t reinvent the wheel, tap into the trusted community of users on the most popular social media sites!

No wonder Chase +1 and TD Money Lounge are the two most popular pages in my Visible Banking Facebook Watch which includes 138 financial institutions so far with respectively 47,238 and 18,574 fans.
SonyaJMills Bankers: This is from Feb, but I found it informative: Blogs and tweets can land you in compliance hell:

Check the ‘New frontier: blogs, e-letters, podcasts’ section.
electrouncle Und schon heute vormerken: 16.06.2009. next-banking in berlin

If you are in Berlin on June 16th you shouldn’t miss this event. I would have been delighted to meet Boris (electrouncle) on that occasion and catch up with Matthias Kroener from fidor but I am speaking at two London events on 16th and 17th.
anzmoneymanager several ppl have suggested a moneymanager iphone app. What do you think? Would you use moneymanager more if we had one?

Twitter is an excellent way to ask your clients for their feedback and confirm the most needed / wanted new features or products.
rshevlin After YEARS of talking about customer engagement…I’ve finally written a report on the topic. FINALLY.

And I can’t wait to get hold of your report Ron: Measuring Customer Engagement: Making the Metric Matter
UBank NAB and the Australian Ballet have launched “Helping kids move through life beautifully” a great site for #ballet kids

Interesting initiative but currently the site (it is not an online community) doesn’t give its members the opportunity to contribute and express themselves.
jowyang Watching the corporate folks from @ebayinkblog (eBay) @JeanetteG (Cisco) talking about their experiences. #twtrcon

I invite you to use #twtrcon and check the coverage of TWTRCON SF 09 the first major event dedicated to twitter. Most of the social media who’s who attended on a Sunday. Fascinating!
gerdschenkel Gee it’s 3,700 now – what’s happened ? RT @gerdschenkel: Over 3,200 views of @ubank #moneybox.

What do you think?
