Klout Social Influence ScoreFor this Social Eminence series, I’ll essentially share here on VisibleBanking.com the top 9 experts identified by Klout for a range of topics I’m passionate about, including: social media, social business, customer experience, innovation, blogging, personal branding and digital marketing.

Social Eminence by Klout

First of all, let’s clarify what Klout means by ‘top experts’:

“Top experts represent those individuals or entities who have generated the most engaging content for a given topic in the last 90 days.”

If I’m not a huge fan of Klout as a measure of influence, as I believe they reward too much the range of social media profiles and the frequency of content (including fully automated feeds), the Lithium-owned social influence company still provides some valuable insights on thought leaders active digitally:

  1. Ranking of top subject matter experts per topic
  2. Comprehensive list of social media profiles per user
  3. Key topics of expertise per user

Klout’s Top Experts on Digital Marketing

1Jeff Bullas

I am a blogger, author, strategist and speaker and work with companies and executives to optimize their online personal and company brands with digital, content and social media marketing.

This blog is about all things to do with “Social Media Marketing”, Content Marketing and Digital Marketing. This includes Twitter, Blogging, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and email marketing.

As I mentioned before, Klout has its limits.

And although all those thought leaders are well worth following on social media -with the likes of Jeff Bullas, Pam Moore and Jay Baer- I personally believe Klout most likely missed a number of most authoritative, talented digital marketing experts who are less active, who interacts on a limited number of social networks and who might not believe in the value of content automation.

Are you systematically using Klout to identify influencers and assess their social eminence?  Who would YOU recommend to follow on twitter for anyone interested in Digital Marketing?

If you enjoyed reading my article or if you wanted to react, I invite you to connect with me here, on twitter (@Visible_Banking) or on LinkedIn.

  1. Thanks for the shout out, Christophe. I’m not a huge fan of Klout as an identifier of influence — and as you state in the article, there are many, many digital marketing experts out there who either opted out of Klout (as many did), or who don’t have high Klout scores, but who are still amazingly intelligent and talented. That said, I am humbled by your mention and to be included with folks who I consider not only very good friends, but also very smart marketers. Thank you.
