Top 10 Most Liked Financial Institutions on Facebook in November 2010 (628 Pages, Groups, Apps in 67 Countries)

Social media financial services. Top 10 Most Liked Financial Institutions on Facebook in November 2010 (628 Pages, Groups, Apps in 67 Countries).

In May 2009, I started tracking the financial institutions (FIs) on facebook(only 128 accounts back then!). It will always be a work in progress, soplease don’t hesitate to get back to me to flag any missing initiatives.

Visible Banking Facebook Watch Series now tracking 628 pages, groups, and applications in 67 countries: 1. 377 from banks, 2. 100 from credit unions, 3. 90 from insurance firms, 4. 30 from financial services and investment firms, 29 from credit card companies.

Top 10 most liked pages:
1. Chase Community Giving
 (Chase Bank), 2. Members Project (American Express), 3. Barclays Football (Barclays Bank), 4. RBS 6 NATIONS (RBS),5. ZYNC (American Express), 6. The GEICO Gecko (GEICO Insurance), 7. usaa (USAA), 8. BNP PARIBAS NET (BNP Paribas), 9. GTBank (GT Bank), 10. Visa Go World (Visa).

This month it is the exact same Top 10, with a different order. Members by American Express took the second place, almost doubling the size of its community in just 30 days. American Express’ ZYNC and GEICO’s The GEICO Code are neck and neck with less than 20 fans separating each other.

Expect the Top 10 to change next month: KBank Live missed it by only about 2k followers. Four other pages have between 87k-89k followers including CIMB Malaysia and Interbank Peru which both made the Top 10 fastest growing pages this month.

Please note that like the Top 10 on twitter, American Express is the only financial institution with two pages in the Top 10. And their main page, American Express, is catching up with close to 90,000 fans.

BNP PARIBAS NET is the only page of the top 10 which didn’t enjoy any growth last month, demonstrating the challenge ahead for the French bank which hasn’t started yet to manage its community.

Top 10 fastest growing pages:
1. Members Project (American Express), 2. CIMB Malaysia (CIMB), 3.Barclays Football (Barclays Bank), 4. Interbank Peru (Interbank), 5. GTBank(GT Bank), 6. ZYNC (American Express), 7. Bank Hapoalim Students (Bank Hapoalim), 8. KBank Live (Kasikorn Bank PLC), 9. RBS 6 NATIONS (RBS),10. The GEICO Gecko (GEICO Insurance).

This month, the Top 10 added a staggering 418,009 new fans or 125% more than last month’s Top 10 at 185,391 new fans.

This is essentially due to the huge drive from the top three fastest growing pages: American Express’ Members Project with almost 200k new fans, CIMB Malaysia with over 50k new fans, and Barclays Football with 40k new fans.

Top 10 apps by monthly usage:
1. Chase Community Giving (Chase Bank), 2. CIMB 2Good2ToBeTrue Contest (CIMB), 3. Banque Populaire (Banque Populaire), 4. Tu 24/7 personal (American Express, Mexico), 5. iAMFAM (American Family Insurance), 6. ASB Virtual Branch (ASB Bank), 7. 56 Sage Street (Barclays Bank), 8. PUMP IT UP with TD Canada Trust (TD Canada Trust), 9. LCL Open Crémaillère (LCL), 10. Střádej Zlaté koruny a vyhraj (GE Money).

This month’s Top 10 most active applications reached just under 245k monthly users versus 290k last month. Most of those applications support a marketing campaign or a short-term contest.

Two of last month’s Top 5 most active apps, I love £50 from Santander andHSBC Students, both in the UK, were supporting two contests which ended in October. They contributed to the previous Top 10 for about 80k monthly users.

ASB Bank’s Virtual Branch keeps attracting more facebook users with a 50% growth rate mom.
