Happy Twitter Anniversary to Ecureuil, State Farm Insurance, Clearpath FCU and University CU!

I thought it would be a good addition to my Visible Banking Twitter Watch to celebrate the anniversary of the banks and financial institutions on Twitter.Tell me what you think!

It seems like the 11th of June is a popular day to start experimenting on Twitter with 1 saving bank, 1 insurance company and 2 credit union which sent their first update on that day.

@Ecureuil_fr on twitter since 11th June 2007
VB-Twitter-Ecureuil_frJoeux anniversaire l’Ecureuil!

@Ecureuil_fr is one of the three twitter accounts from CNCE with@Entrepreneurs and @beneficesfutur.

It is also one of the oldest accounts I am tracking in my ‘Visible Banking Twitter Watch‘. So far, I flagged 13 financial institutions from 5 countries which sent their first tweet in 2007: 8 banks, 4 credit unions, and 1 tax specialists.

VB Stats: Even though Ecureuil_fr is the 3rd most followed FI in France out of the 5 I have flagged so far, it is in the bottom 20% in terms of both number of followers and updates. Since creation, they sent an average of 0.17 updates per working day and only added 0.05 new followers per day.

VB Advice: as it is right now, it doesn’t look like an official page. As a first action, I would add a description. Then, I would update your twitter background to list your other twitter accounts as well as your other social media initiatives such as horizon entrepreneurs or benefices futurs.
By the way, do you have any official presence on YouTube except from the benefices futurs channel?

@StateFarmIns on twitter since 11th June 2008
VB-Twitter-StateFarmInsHappy 1-year anniversary State Farm Insurance!

@StateFarmIns is the most followed insurance company of the 20 companies (from 6 countries) I am currently tracking in my ‘Visible Banking Twitter Watch‘.

VB Stats: Since creation, on average they added a healthy 5.31 new followers per day and posted 2.39 updates on every single working day. This week, they were in the top 5 fastest growing FIs on twitter with 106 new followers (+5.9% of their follower base).

VB Advice: Good use of twitter with a good balance between @ tweets, twitpic and url links, and hashtags. I would update your twitter background to list all your social media iniatives such as your popular YouTube Channel (your State Farm “Garage” Insurance Commercial is in my ‘Visible Banking YouTube Watch’ top 10 most viewed videos) and your facebook page (6th most ‘loved’ pages in my Visible Banking Facebook Watch which counts 139 entries). I invite you to check @UBank, one of the few best practices in the industry.
Congrats for showing an excellent use of social media overall!

Happy 1-year anniversary University CU!
@universitycu is one of the 231 credit unions I am currently tracking.

VB Stats: since creation, on average they added 0.5 new followers per day and posted 0.10 updates per working day.

VB Advice: you should aim to tweet at least once a day and use more hashtags in your tweets. Also, I would update your twitter background to make it more personal and promote your other social media initiatives such as your facebook page (by the way, there is another Universite CU page on facebook which could be slightly misleading).

@Clearpath on twitter since 11th June 2008

Happy 1-year anniversary Clearpath FCU!

@clearpath is one of the 231 credit unions I am currently tracking.

VB Stats: since creation, on average they added 0.27 new followers per day and only posted 0.03 updates per working day (roughly one tweet every other month).

VB Advice: You should aim to tweet at least a couple of tweets a week. Also 25% of your tweets are selling your products. Try not to use twitter as another sales channel.
Don’t you have any page on facebook or channel on YouTube? I couldn’t find anything…

That is all for today. My comments are meant to be constructive, not negative. On Visible-Banking.com I aim to help financial insitutions to better understand social media and successfully engage with people.
Your feedback is always more than welcome.
